Kathleen O'Brien is an experienced legal professional practicing law in Portland, Oregon since 1983. I currently hold the attorney-designate position on the PAIMI Council; and previously have served in the Oregon State Bar House of Delegates and on the Board of Directors of Oregon Women Lawyers. My practice emphases include adoption, guardianship, special needs trusts, and plaintiff civil litigation.

I am the parent of two wonderful children who are now adults. One of my children has severe disabilities, and being the parent of a non-verbal child has given me a deeper understanding of communication. "Exceptional" or "special" people, including older people and vulnerable children, always deserve great respect, dignity, patience, and attention.
